I am just about done finishing up a cylinder head job. I hooked the engine mount back up and the last few steps are to put the alternator back on the engine. Problem is I can't even get the alternator inside the engine compartment. I removed the splash guard by the crankshaft pulley and tried to slip it in from that area by the front oil assembly but that was a no go. There was more room there when I had the top engine mount off. How the hell do you put the alternator back in the engine bay?

take the radiator out or start taking your parts back off.

don't remove your radiator, just your radiator fan that is on that side.

Dude, you my friend are awesome. It was so easy taking the fan out and the oil filter to put the alternator back in. Why couldnt the haynes manual say that! Anyway when I was tightening the belt for the alternator I noticed the bolt is slipping out the assembly. I left it(belt) a slight bit loose as I didn't want the bolt to come out of the u shaped holder. Any advice on how to keep the bolt in while tightening the belt?

I just hold down on it with my hand while tightening. Just turn it slow at first and then after it starts getting snug, you can turn it tighter.
