Axle installation

I'm replacing my driver side axle and I'm having trouble getting it back in. I was wondering if there is anything special I need to do or is it business as usual? I read on a related thread on here and it said that sometimes after market retaining clips are slightly too large for the transmission. That's the side that's giving me trouble by the way, the end that goes into the transmission.

I've done several axle changouts and like you said, its business as usual. They always have that ring that can be a b%$# to take out and put back in. Just give it plenty of luv, it'll give

SOMEtimes WHEN THEY DON'T WANT TO GO IN.I PLACE THE AXLE END WHERE IT GOES INTO THE TRANS. I TRY TO LINE UP THE AXLE AS GOOD POSSIBLE AND I GIVE IT A GOOD PUSH FROM THE SIDE THAT GOES INTO THE HUB AND THAT USUALLY PUSHES IT RIGHT IN

Make sure the side with the cir-clip goes in the transmission, other than that it may need some encouragement.

What you do is make sure the circlip end is going into the tranny. Push it in until it stops, then put the other side in your hub. Get a piece of wood, and place it on the splined end, and get a mallet and give it a good, descent wack. That will knock it into place. That is how I do it, easy squeezy lemon peazy.

The driver side doesn't have a circlip. It's held in with a carrier bearing. If your talking about the passenger side, make sure the splines aren't damaged on the axle.

If we are talking about at the transmission... on an AWD you'd be correct. Both axles on a FWD use the clips.

The AWD driver side axle has a circlip that holds it in the intermediate bearing.
