well i finally got in my Joe P MBC and my 1g BOV...im dying to put it in unfortunately the 1g adapter that i ordered didnt come in yet.. so i guess ill have to wait till my next day off on friday to install the two i really hope i can feel a difference with the two installed maybe at around 14psi ..and for everyone that is new that is gonna do this ill definetly keep you updated :thumb:

oldman is correct make sure you know where your boost is at before you start and then you know where you want to stop. :dsm:

oldman is always right! it's so nice because he really cares! I even keep extras around in case something stupid happens to my greddy gauge! :thumb:

just to be sure it's clear, I reinforce oldman's concern. get an ACCURATE boost gauge!

AHHHHAAHH!! i have done my reading ohh wise oldman...i have installed a boost guage before everything!!!i am currently at 9psi...so i cant wait only thing is i was reading the MBC post on the tech forum and it says to tap by the wastegate actuator or the turbo housing..but when i look under my hood..i seee the turbo housing hose and the wastegate actuator both tee into the same line which then goes to the BCS do i just tap into that line?? im positive about tapping the other end into the BOV line that leads to the intake...but the bottom tap is where im a lil confused.. ohh and i finally installed my symborski shifter bushings..not bad nice tight shifter along wit the B&M ... cant wait for the inscrease in boost though..wish me luck!! :D

Forget about tapping BOV line and just follow my directions, I know I'm right on this one. :D

1. Remove all the hoses connected to the compressor, actuator and bcs.

2. Cap off both nipples on the bcs as well as the intake pipe.

3. Mount the Joe P on the top left cooling fan mount.

4. Connect a new hose from the compressor nipple to the mbc nipple that is in-line but opposite to the adjustment knob.

5. Connect a new hose from the mbc bottom nipple to the actuator. Remember, the shorter the hose the better.

6. Tune.

I'll pre-emp your question of "Why not bov, it's manifold pressure?". Because you'll be tuning the mbc according to you boost gauge which is tap to the manifold anyway, and here is one example of the benefits of tapping off the compressor.

aye oldman im a lil lost here...when you say unplug all the hoses from the compressor you mean the turbo housing right? ... if so after i unplug everything.. can i just reause the hoses to hook up to the MBC...cuz im seriously lost LOL..i dunno if anyone has a pic i could use..cuz like i said the turbo and the actuator both tee into the same line which then runs to the BCS ......argghhh i hate not knowing how to do things but im still learning slowly but surely..damn when the hell is my flange gonna come in ..i hate waiting..

I changed compressor to turbo for you and it should be clear now. Don't think too much, just follow the steps. If you're still confused, ask specific question.

I wouldn't. Rubber hoses crack over time, especially during the removal. The health of these hose will dictate how steady your boost level will be, get new ones.

thanx alot oldman..you know for some reason..when i see your posts..i think of you as one of those old kung fu masters in chinese flicks.. that still whoop everyones ass in skills and knowledge your great...LOL yeah i know makes no sense but your info is the best i look forward for more advice in the future

Yes, me and my drunken monkey style...shall teach you a lesson you'll never forget.. ROFL You're welcome.

ok oldman not that im going against your wisdom..but i still have been doing searches..they all specify doing it the other way...but your way is basically turbo nipple to MBC ..MBC to actuator..thats like one lil circle and just forget about the bcs adn everything else? just cap them off.. i know i might be a pain right now..but if you really assure me then ill do it.. shoots i might as well just mount the MBC right next to the two since they are right next to each other no? im just a newbie worrying thats all ..i need someone to tell me its gonna be ok ..hold me!! LOL :coy:

Most suggests taping off the BOV line because it supposely meassures the manifold pressure, when in reality this is a non-issue because the boost gauge is tapped at the manifold and will always show manifold pressure no matter where you tap the pressure source. In fact, there are several advantages when tapping from the compressor housing.

1. Helps prevent boost spikes due to short route pipping, here's an example.

2. In a bad case of boost leaks, it will help prevent over boosting the turbo.

shoots i might as well just mount the MBC right next to the two since they are right next to each other no?
And you're obsolutely correct, the shorter the hoses, the better. Hence why I suggested this.
3. Mount the Joe P on the top left cooling fan mount.

Don't worry baby, everything will be ok.... ROFL

err old man what did i do wrong..i finally finished off installing the BOV andMBC. first let me tell you about a week ago i installed the 1g BOV adn right off that bat ...i felt the difference.. prior to the install i was boosting 9psi...after install just about a steady 12psi..and i felt every bit of it..spanked a mustang on the highway for some reason too..the today i installed the MBC just like you said. compressor housing to opposite nipple of MBC and the other to the wastegate. capped of everything. now i try to tune it..first shot MBC all the way counter clock.. 9psi felt stock actually felt restricted during WOT. stop adjust turn clock..same stuff 9psi. stop adjust turn clock some more 9psi. so i gave up because i have to go to work. so now im back to square one. i was just gonna tighten it all the way cuz it doesnt seem i have too much to go. by the way when i was turning i was giving like a full turn and a half. i thought about getting hte pressure from the intake liek most people say but i trust your knowledge. freak that where in jersey are you old man. im gonna hunt you down and make you help me j/k please help

How far did you attempt to turn the knob clockwise? Sometimes it will take more than a couple of turns to start seeing boost level changes, that was the case with my Hallman when I first installed it. Turn the knob clockwise more and see what happens.

im gonna hunt you down and make you help me j/k please help
If you're willing to drive, I'll be glad to help.

oldman hats off to you again...i previously turned it 5 times...but after you replied i gave it one more try and whaddya know ..14lbs baby i boosting like achamp again thank you..its locked and loaded now..and now i need a new clutch LOL i dont think my stock is up to the extra boost but thanx again!!
