So some of you might remember I recently did a swap from T25 to the Big 16G and of course had a few problems but I finally got some time and finished it up, now I think I got the oil leak figured out (I think it was the oil return line but have not driven yet to make sure due to this problem) Boost too high. I hold WOT for a quick second and in no time I'm at 18 and climing hard I don't get it cause I have done a boost leak test all is well, the dual stage MBC is all the way down, I have posted other threads to be SURE the dual stage is hooked up right and everyone says it is, the only thing I have not messed with is the wastegate which I never touched and I don't think the wastegate could make this big of difference but I could be wrong there. Anyone have any ideas? I am scared to drive the thing boosting like that as I don't have the feul mods nor do I want to run the turbo that hard I'm looking for about 11-12 lbs at low setting on the controller and 14-15 lbs on high setting. Hope someone here has an idea to do this safetly I know you guys will! Thanks guys!

Ok do you happen to know how to fix it? I really know nothing about wastegates, but I will do some searching

Also don't know if this matters but the wastegate along with everything else is new

You could take the boost controller out and see how much boost you run just off of manifold pressure. That will also answer the question of it’s the waste gate or the boost controller.

Creep is when the wastegate isn't opening properly so it can't bleed off the excess boost pressure. You can test the wastegate pulling the pin on the arm and see if you can move the wastegate arm yourself.

By-pass your mbc by running a vac line straight off your turbo compressor nipple staight to you wastegate. Take it for a pull and tell us if it's still hitting those high numbers.

Ok there actually is not a compressor outlet on the turbo I have a barbed nipple tapped and threaded into the J pipe but I will do that and get back

I finally had the time today to bypass the MBC and take it for a run...the oil is STILL leaking out of the oil return line onto the downpipe not nearly as bad but still bad enough it smokes pretty good it feels like if I tighten them any more they are going to strip in the oil pan and I don't want that, but I have already tried a new seal! Bypassing the MBC it ran up to 16lbs very fast and held so it must be something with the MBC this is a dual stage from Dejon do you think I got a bad one? Just to be 100% sure adjusting the screw ALL THE WAY OUT is the LOWEST setting correct? Thanks guys

Im guessing you have an EBAY 16g which will require you to take the wastegate arm off and adjust the arm longer so it has less pressure on the wastegate flapper which will bring the boost down...

The MBC screwed all the way out is a low setting. Maybe the screw is too far out and leaking air past? I don't know, just a thought. Try tightening it just a little then, take it for a test drive and keep an eye on your boost gauge. Adjust as necessary. Other than that, check you vac hoses on the MBC for leaks.

bring the boost down...

with the MBC not hooked up the boost is not much over what I'm wanting I would like to be able to use this MBC to lower it just a bit otherwise what is the point of a boost controller?

I will try tightening it a little thats a good idea that could be it, and I will check the vac lines I haven't done that! THANKS!

Now anyone have an idea what to do about that oil?! Thats my biggest problem once again...

Buy another new gasket but this time put a little high tach on it, or even copper spray. DO NOT TIGHTEN THOSE BOLTS ANYMORE. Your just not getting a complete seal, clean the surfaces, make sure their are not imperfections in the metal. Do it right and do it once, dont rush and you should get a good seal :thumb:

Ok I will do that in which case I have to drain the oil again and move one of the oil lines under the turbo to get that return line off but o well I guess I have to...

Just one question though first, I keep noticing there is a drip of oil on the bottom of the turbo compressor housing and I don't think its coming from there but is there any chance that the turbo itself could be leaking oil? Thank you

Check and make sure your oil feed line isn't leaking and that the top of the return is also not leaking.
If you’re running 16 psi on just manifold pressure that’s as low as the boost is going to get unless you adjust your waste gate like viperlp01 stated above.
A boost controller is used to run more boost then you run just off manifold pressure buy bleeding off air/ restricting the air pressure getting to the waste gate causing the waste gate to open at a higher psi.

Ok well I will play with the boost a little, nothing else is leaking besides right around the oil return line area and mostly on the bottom side of it. Thank you for explaining that to me I didn't put two and two together there about the MBC
