Just curious if anyone out there has taken the airbags out of there car without keeping the SRS light on. I klnow that you can take out the bulb from the cluster, but is there any other way? You can put an in-line resistor into the airbag circuitry, but I dunno not the correct size and I cannot get a measurement without chancing blowing the airbag using a voltmeter. Just wondering if anyone knows, could find out, or has any little tricks up there sleeve that they could share with me.........thanx.

Yikes. I would stay away from messing with the airbag system. Unless you know what you're doing, those things can be very dangerous. Not to mention, they can help save your life in an accident. Unless you have a hardcore race car application, there's no real reason to get involved with that. Just my opinion........

You can put a resistor in there, don't know the size either. However, unless you know someone or want to put the stock wheel back on, it will NOT pass inspection with the air bag system obviously removed. And the VIN tag states it is air bag equipped.

A little off topic, but.....
Check with your insurance company before you do this. My previous three companys informed me that in the event of an accident, I would not be covered if they found evidence that my air bag had been removed or tampered with.

If you're only worried about the SRS light being lit up, you can simply pull your instrument cluster off and pull the bulb out.

Should I pull the SRS bulb out, or just get the code reset by someone? I pulled mine out and the SRS light has lit up =( And pulling the bulb doesn't reset the code, so shops can still see that the airbag has been tampered with... =/ any advice how I can get that reset without getting in trouble?

I pulled my airbag out twice, the first time the SRS light didn't go off. I just unscrewed it, but didn't disconnect it, and glued it while in my car. Sadly I didn't use strong enough epoxy the first time, and decided it would be easier if I took the whole thing out. I wish I hadn't now :(

Don't try to figure out from Colorado what Texas might look at during an inspection. Out here, all they care about are emissions, and I'm pretty sure you could pass with a wheel missing if it'd still drive the dyno.
The airbag diagnostics is more of a routine than a resistor could replace.

Do any of you care one bit that if/when you get into an accident you may not have airbags? I am trying to fix this problem, not disguse it. If you have air bags in your car, they should work.... seriously. Please think of your own health before you just take a bulb out. So far it looks like I'm going to the dealer... they told me 70 bux to fix it. We'll see about that.... They know me there, I am in to their parts shop often enough. Sounds like time to work some of that suave on the secretary.... fat bi***.

A little late on my part,

Can you really trust a car that is 10 years old to deploy the airbag correctly in an accident?
I Have heard reports of cars only 4 years old having issues not deploying at the right time or not at all.

I would like to change my steering wheel at some point mostly because the stock 2G wheel is big and ugly, but that my car had a bump in the front before I bought it and could have set the air bag off. Looking at the passenger side airbag it looks like its been messed with in the past.

I would feel safer with a good 4 point harness than an airbag
