Was wondering if after I delete core is there a kit or special piece to cap filler neck so I can also remove the nasty looking heater core lines that run in front of block.

Threaded plugs? Sorry if this stupid, never heard of it...

A threaded plug is essentially a screw that is screwed in to block the flow. Welding is a permanent job this would be more of a temporary but quick fix for closing them up.

I knew that meant didn't know that you can thread into filler neck. do I have to tap an dye it

If you drive this car on the street at all i would highly consider keeping the heater core. IT doesn't add and extra weight really and there are just 2 hoses in the engine bay. Think about all the times that your windows fog up and than think about the fact that you will be able to do nothing about it.

^^ Good point, if it doesn't make a difference in weight, i wouldn't even remove it

You live in Massachusetts, why would you want to get rid of the heater? :ohdamn:

True good point, and I just read the procedure on removal and I have to say not worth it. But thanks for responses and information guys

bad, bad, idea... its really simple to do but why the hell would you? its your car. you live in mass.? id def keep it LOL
ive heard of alot of people removing ac but not the heater core. even the ac delete is ridiculous, ever spun an ac pully with the clutch disengaged? it robs you of almost .000001hp and maybe 3hp when your actually running it. thats another story all together, sorry to get off topic.

True but along with saving that 3 hp you also reduce weight with the condensor the actual pump and all the hosing. Even if its only a few lbs as well it was in addition to power steering delete as well. Cleans up engine bay really nice as well!

Are you going to track your car? You going for the 1/10th of a second to get into the 9's? You need to set some goals, and really think if loosing the luxury(necessity in the north) of heat and AC is worth it.

edit oh and the heater core and all the lines may way less than 3 pounds.

The engine has been through hell but love seeing just it.

spaz, in no way am i trying to be condescending, but after looking at your mods is it REALLY worth it? from an aesthetic point of view i totally understand, i love the look of an engine bay nice and clean and especially knowing the person who did it really, really really loves his/her car cause its a ton of work when done right. but in the long run your still dealing with a n/a car here. and unless you plan on making it turbo and taking it to the track there is no point to removing all that stuff.
now if your into weight savings, why dont you save the heater core and take out all your speakers, carpeting, passenger and rear seats, spare tire. maybe even lighter wheels. you would definitely get was more weight than 3lbs and you would still have a heater. if you want the straight forward answer i think its pretty simple to remove heater core. just jumper the in/out lines together and tuck them away, thus bypassing the heater core. not sure if you can block off those passages or not, if they run in sereis with the rest of the cooling sytem you would overheat in about 30 seconds. just try and bypass it if you must.
again, i respect what your trying to do if i understand it (weight savings?) but think your barking up the wrong tree. good luck with whatever you choose though. to each his own right?
