OK, so original ideas are hard to come by and usually for good reason.
Anyone out there tried using the oval hole, where the plastic BOV pipe runs to the stock SMIC on a 2G, to route an air scoop into the engine bay? I recently installed a FMIC and have the hole to fill and thought about making an air baffle the same size as the stock SMIC and mounting it using the same mounting holes. I would then run piping from the top of the baffle through the oval hole and put a screen over the end - which would be close to my K&N filter. The bottom side of the baffle would gather air from the hole in the bumper cover.
The baffle would eliminate some of the debris from making it into the engine bay (leaves, gravel, road sand, etc).
Would this be effective or a waste of time?
