i was wondering if the placement of the filter maters. i had a dejon tool 2g mas pipe for a 1g and it put my filter in the cornor right behind the headight and bearly any of the filter can be seen from the engine bay. so i made my own intake with pvc piping. the piping is a lot shorter but the mas is right behind the radiator. I was wondering if the palcement behind the radiator will heat the mas and thus thorw off the air temp readings. i noticed with like 60-80 degrees outside my air intake was about 70-80 now with it with the pvc piping it would hit 90 moving and over 120 at idle. i knwo this cause of a pocket logger so i was just wondering if shoving it in the cornor would make it more difficult for the engine to suck in air as opposed of havign a lot less restriction with hotter air let me know what u guys think help.

If the air filter is behind the rad the rad fan will pull hot air into the filter, not a good idea.

well here is a pic of my setup let me know wahtu guys think

really? you think that setup its ok? i was wondering if the air filter is to shoved into the cornor and not letting enugh air get to the filter. The valve cover is purple cause the pprevious owner liked to match everything i guess so my calipers are purple and the caritself is dark maroon so yeah i never bothered cuase i don' really care about the color

Thats pretty much where you put it.
If you have a FMIC you can make a custom intake pipe and locate the filter to where the stock side mount IC was.

Here's one I built recently unfortunately the way I've have it at the moment you have to do away with your headlight. Not much good for the street. :laser:

Hey terrific are you runing that 1g open? how are you not stalling? anyways i was wondering with that white pipe in that moves the mas i notice my air intake temps being a lot lower due to it not being so clsoe to the radiator . its about a 40 degreese difference. i was wondering why it stalls more with the 2g mas pipe with colderi ntake temps. the only thing i can think of is that since it measures colder air the ecu tells the car that a larger volume of air is going into the engine. i am thinking i coudl have vacuum leaks or intercooler piping leaks. its the same with my hks whichs venting and with a 1g thats modded with the the leak stop for bosoting higher amounts and recirculating. I think it is either the large injectors or the turbo but is their anyway to fix this? the only reason why i put the white 2g pipe is for the lower intake temps. let me know what u guys think.

I'm still running a 1G Mass therefore I needed a longer, wider cold box than otherwise. I did run the blow off open last year, but plan to pipe it back in on a new probably DeJ pipe. I didn't have any stall problems but did experience some occcasional bucking that I attributed to it.

I just put this box in and haven't run it yet. I expect to get cooler air to the engine we'll see. As for the cooler air on 2G(further away from some of the heat) and a 1G, I'm not the one to ask on this. Colder denser air is a good theory on it but I'd be lyin if I gave you a definitive answer. There are a lot of smart guys on here that probably can give you a better answer.

As to your original post I know your aware that if you can draw your air from outside you'll probably be better off on air temps. I saw today that someone had posted a DIY on 1G cold air utilizing part of the headlight opening, you might take a look at his DIY.

Thanx for your original post
Take care :thumb:

I run a Dejon VPC style intake pipe upside down...

My filter is where the SMIC was... It left a nice spot where the airbox was to mount the WB o2 and the MAFT box..
