Should replacing my Air Box with a 4.25 intake cone change my boost? I installed the air filter cone, now I noticed that my car will hit 6500-7k before the boost guage is maxed(yes i know stock boost guage sucks, i plan to replcae it asap) But Before the cone was installed the car would be maxed at boost No problem. Its only 1st and 2nd that this happens, i can get the boost guage to max out in 3rd and up no problem. (also just installed underdrive pulley and NGK plugs and wires in case it makes a difference)

1. Get some electrical tape.
2. Place tape over stock boost gauge.
3. Buy aftermarket boost gauge.
4. Install aftermarket boost gauge.

A less restrictive intake would decrease the time of boost onset but would not increase boost.

As you may know, the factory boost gauge is not really a boost gauge at all, instead the ECU approximating boost based on it's airflow/rev calculations are via the MAS.

What you are seeing may just be that your MAS is sucking in hotter (under hood) air than from the airbox which plumbs to the outside. At higher speed the underhood temps would likely lower resulting in more "normal" readings. As airflow calcualtions include Air Temp and Barometric pressure, this is likely the cause.
