So here's the story... i'll try to keep it short...

last week my plug wires ripped when i was taking them out... no big deal.. i ordered up some new ngks and i put them int his morn... last week also thought here was oil under the spark plug cover, so i took that off now so i can monitor it to see if there si any oil.. i got a enw valve cover gasket in but then most people said that it was my oil cap, so i put the new oil cap on today... so far no oil anywhere so i think the cap was it... however... aftyer a week, i put the plug wires in this morn, started up the car.. let it sit for a few minutes, i got in to move it outta the snow cave it was in so i could brush it off... within like 3 or 4 minutes the oil light turned on.. so i shut her off asap... i just checked the oil.. it seems fines.. what should i do!?????????????

if something is gonna sieze or blow up on me... i also have an annoyin exhaust leak that i know wouldnt affect this oil thing but it doesnt help the car situation any better... please let me know your suggestions

so i went and started up the car again... the oil light comes on at idel but once over 1500 rpms then it goes away and comes back on when i let off the gas????? is this something i need to be worried about?

Check your idle RPM is it high enough. An erroneously low idle can trigger a low oil pressure light.

Also check the terminals for good contact on the oil pressure sensor and test/replace the sensor if necessary.

If none of that does it I recomended droping the pan and backside of the oil pump to check the pump.

I had a 7 bolt do this before throwing a rod. It did'nt cause the rod breakage but on tear down the diagnosis also found a worn rear B-shaft bearing which was allowing the shaft to flop a bit which wore the pump alot.

I noticed from the pictures that, in spite of the warning light, your oil pressure seems normal, as evidenced by the oil pressure gauge reading. In fact, you are showing the same oil pressure when the warning light is on or off. Makes me wonder whether the warning light means anything or not.

u think i'm alright to drive or no? i would hate to ruin something... i noticed the oil pressure stayed the same as well so i'm not sure what the oil thing is doing... i'll see if it does it again later...

I would tend to trust the pressure gauge, unless the pressure reading stays the same when the engine is not running. I think it would be OK to drive. However, I would watch the gauge as the engine warms up. Pressure should drop as the oil heats up. If pressure responds normally, I would assume that the warning light is in error.

See if the wire's come off the light sensor. If you're really out of oil pressure on a DSM, the lifters collapse and there's a helluva scary racket from them before the engine's damaged- if you shut down immediately.

Or, the light sensor could just be used up.
