Aftermarket piston on stock rods

I found this partially answered in another thread, but I was wondering how to convert the stock rods to work with free-floating aftermarket pistons. Anybody think this is a bad idea?

Have machine shop open small end of rod to wrist pin size. Drill oil hole.

A good machince shop will be able to do this easily.

Where should I drill the oil hole? I'll probably be doing this myself due to the lack of machine shops around here that I trust...

This is not something I would attempt myself, unless you own precision machining equipment. You're dealing with modifications where tolerances are measured in thousandths of an inch. The width of a human hair can literally be the difference in a good engine and failure. Find a precision machine shop in your area. It's not complicated if you have the proper equipment.

If you can squeeze out enough money for some inexpensive h beams like a bc or an eagle you can assemble them yourself at home and save some money on machine shop work and have a lot nicer parts too

Even if I bring it to a machine shop, wouldn't I have to tell them where to drill? I do have some machining tools like a milling machine, lathe, etc.

I was just wondering about the oil hole placement. Right now i'm looking at a set of wiseco pistons with a 21mm wristpin, isn't that the same size as stock?
