Hi all,

I just finished rebuilding my 91 Talon TSi AWD A/T.

When I first started it she went straight to 2500 RPMs and then slowly to 3K. I ran it for less then a min like this and noticed coolant leak at the top rad hose. So I shut it off and re tightened it.

Next time I start it took 2 or 3 starter trys before it started. Then straight to 2500 RPM. Also after a bit the CEL comes on. I do not have a scanner.

I used

http://web.archive.org/web/20040621102025/www.taboospeedshop.com/emissions.htm

For the emission delete and vac routing. ALL emissions are gone. Still using stock fuel regulator/solenoid. Also removed charcoal canister and plugged the tube on the metal gas line down there. Using EGR block off from STM. Removed the whole AC system and cruise control.

My turbo is a hybrid 20G Comp wheel with TDO5H housing machined to fit it, 16/18G center section, 7CM2 Turbine housing with stock turbine wheel from 14b.

I checked my vac tube. the A1, A2, E, and P ports on TB are caped. Run small vac port on manifold closet to the TB to a T fitting. One going to BOV and the other to MBC then from MBC to wastegate.

The 2nd small vac port on manifold goes to FPR then from FPR to Regulator on the fuel rail.

The larger vac port on the manifold goes to PCV on cover. The other cover port goes to the intake tube that has the filter on it and goes to turbo. There was also a 2nd port right next to that on the intake tube that was broken off. This way when I got the car. I plugged it.

The rear large port on the manifold goes to the brake booster.

I capped off the long skinny vac port on the air housing, the J pipe, and of course the 4 on the TB.

Am I missing a port or is something else doing this?

I also have a few plugs that are not connected to anything. I found the one for the AC comp, and CC motor but still have some others I'm not sure about. I took pics below.

Thanks!

You plugged the gas tank vent. I suggest connecting a hose to it and running it down and out of the engine bay.

BY doing this does that mean it will leak gas on the street? If it is plugged what does that do, is that part of my problem. I saw a forum somewhere with pictures and that is what they had done. Just plugged the tube.

Thanks.

First start since build.... Im also assuming first time with the 20g?. If so, most ppl upgrade injectors. What size are the injectors? Do you have any type of EMS? You could be running rich and need to adjust fuel.

Yha I'm on stock A/T 91 injectors, 390cc I think. Also stock ECM. I plan to upgrade all that soon. My MBC is set all the way open for stock actuator engage. I have not driven it yet and am just idling. It instantly goes to 2500 then shortly to 3000.

Every few seconds maybe 6 to 10 the engine has a "bump". Not like any kind of metal hitting metal sound or anything. I can see the engine move or "bump" each time on its mounts. I think this is Idle surge. Does that sound right?

The oil pressure gauge is in the middle and seems normal.

I un plugged the fuel vent line and it did not change anything about the idle. I also put the MBC on the J pipe port and plugged the T fitting making a straight line form, the first small port on the intake manifold to the BOV.

Still no change. Also it takes like 4 or 5 turns to start it. The first few all I hear is the starter. Then there is one that sound like it trying to start (kinda like not getting any fuel) then one or two trys after that is starts. It real low RPM for maybe 1 sec and then straight to 2500 steady and moves to 3K.

Also what amount of CC injectors do you recommend and what type of EMS stuff? I plan to keep the stock MAF for now and not move to the GM kind or other intercooler stuff yet. I'm looking to have it as a daily driver so not going to push it crazy. Looking for something affordable and also not too complicated on the EMS side, if such a thing exist

Thanks!
