After 5 years I'm calling it quits...

Thank you Greg for everything you have given us over the past few years. To see what you have done with what you have is astonishing. Greg, you have forgotten more than many of us know.

Best wishes to you and yours and please stop back every once in a while to let us know how you're doing.

Cheers buddy.

Thank you all for your kind sentiments and it’s truly been an honor sharing my DSM experiences with you. It was a hard decision to let something go that’s been such a big part of my world, but because it’s been so time consuming I haven’t been able to care of a lot of other important facets of my life.

I’ll be selling the Laser, trailer, spares, wheels/tires, etc. to help finance a matter I’m contending with. I’m hoping to sell the car as a whole and see it out on the track continuing to represent the DSM community. As Rich mentioned I’ll probably be looking at pennies on the dollar and I’d hate to have to part the car out, but I also have to be realistic with all that’s been invested.

Again, I’ll always be available to answer any questions that I can through my PM or the link on my web site, so I’m really only be a keyboard away.

Lastly, you make me proud as you continue with your passions…

It was a good five-year run, to be sure. Good luck with your future endeavors, Greg.

Good luck with all that comes your way Greg. Sad to see it go but every day has to end sometime. Hope all is well and look forward to a time when you be back in the saddle again.

Greg, I am sorry to hear you leave. From your most recent post, this sounds like the end of a great and unforgettable legacy. We all love you as a DSMtuners member and cherish your friendship very much.

Not to sound too dry, but I was wondering what you will be doing with your extra parts. I understand you said you want to sell the entire car, but I'm sure there are a few other spare things hanging around. Will there be a place (or places) where you will be selling of some of your parts (other than the Classified section)?

[That didn't take long. Keep the begging to PMs.]

Now that's funny...ROFL ROFL

I need to do a complete inventory of parts with photos and I'm thinking I might put them up on my site for everyone’s perusal. It’ll probably take a little time to get this accomplished. ;)

Beauty. Putting it off is the first step toward not quitting.

Step 2 is reminiscing about the good times with those parts.
Step 3 is hopping in someone elses ride for "just lapping days".
Step 4 is realizing you have a perfectly good car waiting to be raced.
Step 5 is finding yourself in the starting grid. :D

Greg thanks for raising the bar and showing that the DSM was good for more than just drag racing.

Many people don't know what kind of work and dedication it takes to run a race team. it's a lot of hard work and stress.

You have really been an inspiration and i hope you understand how much that all means to us as a community.

I wish you all the best in what ever obsticles you are facing. :rocks:

Thanks Martin... its people like you who actually put their money where their mouth is for people like me with the race addiction! As always, thank you for your support...

Hey Chris,

I posted it in the classified section this morning so everyone could see it wasn't some big mystery. My son saw it and said it was the longest list of modifications he's ever seen (he needs to get out more). Wow the "Homepage" would be incredible, I would just hope the Tuners community wouldn't think it was some sort of preferential treatment...

No grandpa...no  There goes another one who's older than me. :D

Good luck Greg, don't be a stranger.:thumb:

Well of course it's preferential treatment, how many Greg Colliers come through here and make such a huge positive impact on our members and the DSM racing community (and stick around to talk shop with the regulars in their spare time)? Most people in your position tend to separate themselves from the crowd and could care less about spending their time helping others in an online public forum setting like this. I know, I've met them.

You've been successful in your racing efforts and have reminded a bunch of us DSMers what the DSM world is supposed to be about. Grassroots racing, taking on the big guys, and still taking the time to answer questions and encourage the regular guys who are just starting out, without displaying the superior attitude that plagues our community these days. The DSM community needs more people like you Greg.

WOW!! Thank you Chris... this is way more than I could ever expect. Being apart of this site and the people here has been an absolute honor that I've never taken for granted. I have the utmost respect for you, the Wisemen, and Moderators who constantly work so hard to accommodate this huge community. DSMtuners is one of a kind and that's why it continues to be so popular!

Thanks again Chris--- YOU DA MAN! :thumb:

Wow. I hadn't been keeping up with my forum reading for a while, so i missed this. :( It's a shame to hear your getting out of racing for a while, Greg; I'm sure we're all going to start sounding like broken records here pretty soon, but you've had a hell of an impact on most of us here, by virtue of the fact that you actually got out there and raced competitively, had the skill and good fortune to take home the win enough times to make everyone notice, and taken a ton of time to provide inspiration and guidance to some of us still working up the nerve to dodge other cars rather than just cones. :D

Good luck to you with whatever it might have been that prompted your decision, and we'll look forward to seeing you racing something in stock classes soon enough. ;)

Thanks Ed, the last couple of months have been pretty weird not spending every spare moment getting ready for the season. After I posted the list of modifications for the classified ad I thought about all the little things that I've done to the car that I forgot to mention and it was pretty overwhelming.

This is probably as close as I'll ever get to cutting off my right arm...

Will you stay on the forum Greg?

Just to let you know, thank you agian for little qeustions ive had for you in the past and taking your time to help me and others out.

I hope everything works out for you Greg!!!

Can we get a vid of the car? I know ive seen track vids etc, but you should make a vid of the car doing a pass, and some fly bys if you can...........What a beast

Greg, im sure im not alone when i say you will be missed. You were one of the people who would take the shirt (or suit in your case) off your back if someone else needed it. Its people like you who make the sport great, and thanks to you, so much DSM'ers have entered the sport of road racing. Im sad to hear your leaving for now, and hopefully in a few years, ill look in my rearview and see another one of your monsters.
