General Adding EPROM to a 2G non-EPROM ECU?

Has anyone tried to re-engineer a non-eprom 2G ECU into an Eprom programmable ECU like on the 95?

I have done a few google searches and haven't found anything promising. I think it "could" be possible... but anything could be done. I'm trying to see if anyone has attempted it and has any knowledge on it. Thanks, for any input.

Ya, its not a simple solder a socket on the non eprom board and your set. Like Andy said if it could be done, somebody would have already done it by now. You'll just have to watch for a good deal on a eprom ecu.

Something like that would most likely still be property of Mitsubishi Motors and not readily available to the general public.

Hrm... I thought the schematics were in the Shop Manuals... but on further review, I could not find it.

I believe it is possible to do. I believe the issue would mainly be with voltage levels inorder to power the EPROM differently than the chip and to create a daughter card to house the EPROM, dc-dc converters, etc. The overall logic of the board should be very similar since they the 95 EPROM is interchangable with a non-EPROM ECU. But since I don't have any schematics work from I cannot be certain.

Anyways, if anyone happens to have them and wouldn't mind making me a copy to peruse please send me them. I need a 95 EPROM and a non-EPROM ECU schematics so I can figure out which traces to cut, what voltages to generate and where to reroute traces.

But as others have mentioned, it probably is more work that its worth... i.e. for ~$250 or less you can buy a 95 EPROM Ecu. But its not nearly as much fun.

The ECU pinout is in the manual. It gives some basic clues about each pins interface but it's a far cry from a ECU schematic.

Don't hold your breath. There aren't any generally available schematics. You either pay Mitsubishi lots of money or make them yourself. That's harder now since the part of Mitsubishi that made the processor and several of the other chips has been sold and they no longer document the parts.
