I just got my ACT 2600 w/ Fidanza flywheel installed about a week ago. When I picked it up, the clutch enguaged literally off the floor and felt somewhat stiff, but noting bad. The clutch now has about 350 city miles, and it basically feels like the stock clutch did. The pedal pressure isnt that much harder, and where it catches is about the same as stock as well. Is it normal for it to change? Is it part of the break in process? And will it get stiffer once its fully broken in? I have not launched the car and have been babying it for all 350 miles, and plan on going all the way to 500 for the break in.

Ive searched, but didnt find anything helpful.

There is a definitely a big difference in pedal pressure when comparing 2600 to stock. I mean I feel it everyday, I have 2 95 gsxs, one with lightened flywheel and 2600 and one thats stock. BIG BIG difference.

I would adjust the clutch.

I believe there should be some freeplay before it grabs, and also after.

yeah mine is much stiffer in my DSM almost to much for my girlfriend to drive now.

Sometimes they do need adjusting after you install and drive it around a bit. But it might just be you actually getting used to the clutch. I thought when felt lighter, until I got into my friend's car who had a stock clutch. Big difference.

I agree i have the 2600 and lighten flywheel, it is a harder pedal. I adjusted my clutch so it wouldn't grab off the floor. When i called ACT about it, they said it needs to be adjusted or it will wear out prematurely. So i did, 1100 miles later running strong.

I was surprised at how the 2600 felt when I first drove it. I am running the same setup(2600 with street disc & Fidanza flywheel) I was expecting the pedal to be super heavy, but surprisingly, it wasn`t too bad at all. It definatelyis harder, but not nearly as much as guys have said it would be. I love the entire setup, It hooks up great, & is smoooooooth too . . . :talon:

Well, it may be that Im use to the pressure now, but where the clutch catches is definetly different and has changed. When I picked it up, I stalled it the first time because it caught so close to the floor and you couldnt even slip it hardly. Now it catches where stock was, and its very easy to slip.

If your engagement height and pedal pressure is changing keep an eye on your Master and Slave Cylinders.
If you're still on the stock cylinders its possible the added pressure from your new clutch is the metaphorical "last straw".

It doesnt keep changing. It was stiff and caught fast, now it feels basically like the stock clutch and has been for a good week....it "stopped changing"

Will it get any harder as the disk wears?

I have about 2500 miles on mine & feels the same as it did from day 1. Now that I think about it, I think I did adjust the pedal,(lenghtened the rod on the pedal arm) It grabbed too close to the floor. It`s been perfect since then . . . :talon:
