I'm inspecting my pressure plate before I put every thing back together and the plate has a slight inward slope from the outer edge to the middle. Almost like it's meant to be there.

I have a local clutch specialist that can resurface it (pressure plate) for me with the proper magnetic gripping plate if I decide to reuse it.

PLEASE keep in mind; I'm running LOW on DSM funds at the moment and would really like to pull so more life out of this $300 plate.

I'll be using a new ACT street disk, OEM TB & clip, and plan to step/surface the flywheel.

Is this slow slant inward normal for a DSM pressure plate or from clutch wear?

Is a new plate perfectly flat?

What is the proper step for a 1G flywheel and act clutch?

Thanks for the help;

FWIW, I just looked at my old 2100 pressure plate that I have sitting around and it does the same thing. The angle of the slope from the outer edge to the inner edge seems to be uniform throughout which leads me to believe that it was deliberately machined that way. I cannot say this with 100% certainty however so use this observation as you will. I hope that helps a little.

I just got off the phone with ACT's help department and asked about the inward slope of my 2600 Pressure Plate.

ACT said the 2600 does not come from the factory with this uneven face; It should be flat.
He stated this is typically caused by torquing the pressure plate bolts to stock spec, and not the ACT recommended 27 pounds. This causes the plate to flex and allow uneven wear.

I next informed him of my access to a capable shop for resurfacing of the pressure plate, and asked if this would be OK to do.

ACT said, as long as the measured difference is less than 1mm, you should be OK to resurface; assuming there is enough meat/life left in the plates surface to not change the operating distances by to much. ACT will resurface there own pressure plates if needed; so he can defiantly say its OK to do.

I told him the difference in my plate was less then .5mm on the inner side.

ACT said, I could probably put it back together and not have any problems; that difference is similar to what would be cause by the use of a racing puck type clutch disk over time. (I have no experience with race pucks and did not really under stand this statement, so forgive me if I reworded it wrong or missed his point all together; I just wanted to pass it along)

As for the flywheel step - 90 eclipse flywheel = step down .612
