I just recently got an ACT 2600 Pressure plate that I needed so I can slowly start to put the car together.

Is this pressure plate usable???
I know now it has some rust on the back side, and on the fingers it has light scratch marks on it. Probably from a bad TOB or something.

There is no imperfections on the face and is completely smooth besides the rust....

You should be able to use it besides the rust make sure you have a shop clean it out or just do it your self whit some sand paper but i don't see why it would be bad the marks from the TOB are normal not that bad at all..

Looks like it went through a bit of wear but it still looks like you could definitely use it. And yeah, clean it up a little bit first.

Holy crap if your TOB scoring is bad, mine must be shot OMG

Is your PP cracked or any heat spots? I say clean it up a bit and have a machinist take a look at it.

Well its not too often that I see pressure plates with rust and such....See more pics of the fingers or the surface area with heat marks....There is 1 small heat mark that is about the size of a double AA batterys end the round part, but its still very faint....

I have used ACT 2600 Pressure Plate and wondering if it is usuable..let me know experts :D

Also, my mech. told me that the street disc has nothing left...you be the judges as he doesnt know performance parts i dont think..But he may be correct...

If it was my clutch, I would replace it. That pressure plate has seen better days, and it looks like the clutch was improperly adjusted for some time as the heat damage to the pressure plate springs is pretty evident. I would toss it and start with a new pressure plate, new clutch disk, and a resurfaced flywheel.

Your pressure plate looks pretty good at first glance. Clean the rust off of it, and have your machinist check it for flatness and resurface it if necessary. Otherwise, use a red scotchbrite pad and scuff the friction surface and springs down and check the friction surface for flatness using a quality metal straight-edge. If there are any hot spots or fractures, toss it. If it looks good, flat, and in nice overall condition, give it a try. Be sure to use it with a new clutch disk, and a re-surfaced flywheel for best results.

As well, don't forget to properly readjust your clutch hydraulics after installation and after clutch break-in.

The pressure plate springs I am talking about are the "fingers" that the throwout bearing rides against and pushes on to disengage the clutch. They are severely overheated -- don't you see the bluish/purple heat damage? I would not use it.

I didnt know those were 'springs' but totally makes sense now...So i guess ill most likely be in the market for a new P.P and street disc come 2morrow :ohdamn:

wish me luck..

what side effects would be result from the springs being overheated near the tips??
