I am currently in the process of assembling my bottom end. I purchased ACL Race bearings from extremepsi.com and when I was installing the the main bearing/thrust washer (one piece bearing) I noticed the oil hole on the main journal didn't line up with the bearings hole.

All the other bearings sent with the set line up with the oil holes on the bearings.

Is there anyone else out there that has had this issue?

The only odd thing I noticed was that all the bearings except the thrust/main bearing were manufactured on APR08 and the thrust/main bearing was made in MAR08. They were made in two different months.

I will post pictures here in a few hours.

Thanks!

Should give a call to ACL. Oil holes should line up.

Here are the pictures of the oil hole and bearing.

i might be totally wrong but did that motor originally have a split thrust bearing instead of the one piece?

If he has a 95 GST then that would be a no if that's an engine out of a 98-99 then yes.

In this case no the block has the groove for a thrust bearing if you examine the picture close.

Sorry for the blurry pictures everyone.

When i bought this car I was told this was a 1997 Eagle Talon that had a new short block put in it due to crankwalk issues. I couldn't tell you the for sure date on the bottom end but the car was manufactured in April of 1997 which puts it before the cut off on the split thrust washer/bearing.

Also, the bearings I took out of the block when disassembling it were one piece as well.

I will check the oil hole on the factory bearing tomorrow.

Thanks everyone.

EDIT This is a 1997 Eagle Talon TSi AWD

No they don't line up do you see that groove under it coming from the galley hole? Install it you're fine.

Make sure you check end play.

Im not sure if im understanding what your saying... just to clarify, your saying that ACL manufactures these to not align the oil hole but the groove in the block still supplies oil to the journal and bearing?

Harriz, compare your stock bearing it'll be the same top or bottom thrust bearing it'll have the same hole spacing.

Oil works off of pressure and will find it's way to the low pressure space. They are spaced that way to evenly distribute oil understand now?

Alright well I'll give this a look when I get home for the day.

Thanks for the help!

Well, assuming the bearings I took out of the block were the factory bearings, they actually do cover the oil hole. I wouldn't have ever thought that.

Thanks everyone.

Harriz, look at the underside of the bearing it should have the manufacturer logo on the edge of the bearing.

There are markings on the underside of the bearing... I cant exactually remember what they look like tho. Ill take a picture and post it in the morning.

Thanks

I couldn't get my camera to focus on the logo so i just drew it in paint.

Tell me what you think? It had this symbol with the text 7A next to it.
