Hi. before to start i want say sorry about my english.

Ok. I have a problem about my front balance shaft on my 1g nonturbo eclipse (4g63). it have oil leak and some space on balance shaft's seal. balance shaft's pulley is vibrating. i think balance shaft's seal is dead.

Repairman says it's not possible to fixed this part. They said to me if i use balance shaft eliminator kit, it can kill to my oil pump in next future, and they said to me, it's not possible rebuilt this seal, factory is using different ways for it and if i try to fixed, it can be really expensive and maybe it can kill my engine. is it True???

My repairman said to me it can be more cheap to find a new block but In Turkey (my country) , it's really hard, find a new block and they are really expensive. what can i do? can u help me?. I searched into the this website. i saw alot of people used balance shaft eliminator kit in Usa, but nobody wrote how much mile could they drive their car without balanceshaft. or is it possible rebuilt balance shaft seal or something else.

Thank u very much.

oh i forget that... my repairman said to me the balance shaft is really important for the engine and if we remove it , engine can die.

No you will not destroy the engine if the balance shaft is removed. The OEM balance shaft nub (BSE) it puts stress on the oil pumps gearscausing the steel pump gears the wear into the aluminum oil pump housing. That leaves aluminum in the oil and get all thre the engine yes.

The seal can be replaced without tearing the engine apart and costing alot of money. Seals are really cheap. This is the part number (MD343565) and its only $13 USD. The seal would not cause your BS pully is viberating then its probably a bad bearing or the thick metal ring that slips over the nub and rides in the seal is missing. I would take the front cover off the engine and have it inspected by a different shop or on your own. That shop sounds like its full of tards that are looking to rip you off and don't know what there doing.

AMSperformance makes a great BSE kit. They take a stock BS and mill it to remove the counter weights off of it so it keeps the rear bearing so it wont kill the oil pump like the OEM BSE kit can do. It's got a nice price tag on it thow LOL.

use balance shaft eliminator kit. It w0nt kill your engine. Balance shafts are there to counteract the engine's vibrations. Without it, your engine will vibrate a bit m0re. But no engine damage will occur.

Or you can definitly put a new seal.

Your mechanic doesnt seem to kn0w much ab0ut 4G63 engines!

Thank u very much. Yep my mechanic doesnt know much about 4g63 engines because 4g63 engines arent famous engines in Turkey. We have just 20 eclipse and 1 Galant Vr4 in Tukey.

oh and dented coffe, if problem about bad bearing or the thick metal ring that slips over the nub and rides in the seal is missing, what can we do? can it fixed?

You would have to inspect on why its not on there and if one will properly fit on there still if it hasn't been damaged. The thick metal ring is what alows the seal to actually seal out the dirt and everything from entering the oil pump gears threw the opening that the BS goes threw the oil pump gear. Call DSM graveyard at 1(269)226-4463 or go to DSM Graveyard - Your #1 Source for DSM Parts! they have alot of them rings laying arround and can send one to you for cheap im sure even thow your over seas.
