When ever i'm driving my car around 40 miles an hour my transmission will seem to slip. The car will vibrate as it slips and catches. Its almost like going over bumpy road. It only seems to happen as i decrease in speed to around 40 miles an hour before it downshifts. Has anyone had this probllem.

It's tough to say without actually driving your car, but you may have a converter clutch chatter, which is somewhat common in these cars.

took my car to the shop and they said that my overdrive was sliping. He said he would have to drop my transmission to see how bad it is and to give me a price. If any one has had this problem could you tell me how much it cost to fix it

Don't let them drop the tranny. They on't need to drop the tranny to check the end clutch (overdrive). There is a cover on the passager side behind the tire and splash guard that is held on by two bolts that is the end clutch. to check that all you have to do is take it off and look at the plates and frictions. After your done changing this also have a flush and filter change too to catch anything that might be suspended. But to look at the overdrive the transmission does not need to be dropped.

the 2gnt trans doesn't have the end cap that you're talking about. Almost sounds like you're talking about a 5speed. On the 2gnt auto trans the cover on the end of the transmission is only for the final drive gears (drive and driven gears). All of the clutches on these transmissions are inside the case itself and can't be serviced the same.
