I am putting new water pump gaskets, they gave me 2 O-rings, do I use both of them? or is 1 an extra? Last time I took the water pump off there was only 1 on I think. I got a DSM CD, but it doesn't tell me crap about the water pump, and I checked Vfaq.

I replaced mine a couple months ago, you only need 1 of the round rubber O-rings for the part that goes into the motor without any bolts around it, the small 2inch hole or whatever it is, then you will need the gasket that goes around the part of the water pump that bolts on to the motor, the cardboard like gasket. :thumb:

--edit... sorry, you have a 1g, I dont know if there is a diff. between the water pumps, prolly so, but I am referring to my 2g, sorry... someone else will be able to tell you though!

Alright, thanks guys.

Also you just put the O-ring on the pipe and then put on the pump?

Looks like I'm just gonna replace the pump too, it is leaking out of the small hole on the bottom, and where the rubber o-ring is.

Once I get this done the Talon will be back on the road after 2 years of sitting. WOOHOO!!!!

Yep, clean the corrosion on the pipe if any, lube the o-ring with coolant and push the pump on the pipe. I'd pass on the RTV. It could cause a leak if things shift later where the o-ring my itself will just move and keep sealing.

that hole is there to tell you that you need to replace it (the waterpump) when it's leaking out of it, i forget what it's called, but that's why it's there.
I stuck the o-ring inside the waterpump tube thing and then put it in, it shouldn't fall out!

It's called a weep hole

Hun?, the o-ring goes on the outside of the water pipe in between the two grooves and can't fall out/off.
