Question about gaskets...

Ok i called O'reillys and asked about the 2.0 4g63 valve cover gasket. They said that the 90 year is different from the other 1g years.

My question is whats the difference?

My engine is a 90, but am upgrading my cam sensor because the new harness i got belonged to a 93 talon and of course the cam sensor plug changes. Would that make the difference?

Also my oil pan is messed up ans it leaks allot. I have a 1.8 that i swapped out, would the oil pan in the 1.8 fit onto my 2.0? Thanks

Wincaps says that 03/89 to 05/92 is the same gasket: P/N MD125939 (which would correspond to all 1G 6-bolts). From 06/92 to 05/94 it is MD186784.

It also specifies separate numbers for the plug well gaskets: MD125940 and MD186785 for the same time periods, respectively.

The rubber half-moon seal is the same for all, P/N MD050536

Learn something new everyday... I thought all VC's were the same except for cosmetics for both 1G's and 2G's. (And the gaskets may very well still be interchangable even though they have different p/n's)

Arghhh...Those numbers are for the 2.0L turbo (D27A). Do you know your model code by any chance?

After a bit more browsing, it looks like those numbers are the same for both the turbo and non-turbo 2.0L 4g63. So I would say that the gasket is the same for all 1G 6-bolts, and could be different on the 7-bolts due to the different CAS setup...but that's a guess.
