So my new motor should be here tomorrow and the frist thing im doing a full timing belt job and i know to go with an oem parts on the timing belt job, But should i go with a oem water pump to? I really dont wanna spend 200 on a oem water pump when i can get one for 50 at napa. let me know what you guys think!

Not trying to start this thread up again but what do you guys think of duralast water pumps?

I used a waterpump on both a 1g and 2g from autozone, but it was prior to being branded as Duralast. Im not sure if its the same pump, but just reboxed? I never had any issues with the ones i used though.

yes use oem..i'd check out the harmonic balancer pulley and make sure it's still good. and the balance shaft belt also while your's at the timing belt too...best bet will be balance shaft eliminator...but it's not recommended..

I just pulled the water pump off of my Talon because it's wobbling due to a bad bearing. It doesn't look like oem to me. I would stick with oem parts for the water pump and all of your timing belt parts.

Ive never used oem and ive had 2 dsms, with plenty of timing jobs, from autozone, and advanced auto, no problems just repalced it again for 40 bucks here in town. Oem if you want i know of many who dont used oems and have never had problems over thousands of miles. I use some oem stuff, and other stuff not oem.

Anything that serious that has to do with the car's cooling and timing parts i would always use OEM.
Yeah the auto parts store may be good and not have any problems, but i rather have the piece of mind of OEM.
That's just me.

I definitely have no problem with that!!

But if you think about it, durlast remanufactures OEM parts, so its "kinda" like an OEM ;) ...

Usually i always say go OEM but as far as a water pump goes... for $200 compared to $40... and both work just as good.. thats a no brainer in my book...

I'm quite confused by this statement. BSE is pretty much always a recommended mod, especially for reliability.

No doubt.

IMO waterpumps are generally fairly easy to cast and make....along with keep quality control to a high standard.

Alternators/Electrial equipment is a whole nother' ballgame. Re-man alternators suck ass!
