I want to bounce an old problem off some of you. First off I'm no longer an a/t, I'm in the middle of the M/T swap right now. But I still haven't figured out what caused my A/T problems. So here goes. It started when I was cruising on the highway at about 60MPH. Then it feels as if I'm in neutral. I step on the gas and it free revs. I let off the gas completely and it grabs what I think was 3rd, chirps the tires hard and jerks the car. I then just let it cost off an exit and get to the light. Well when the light turns green I give it some gas and it just free revs again. I give it a little more then it grabs 1st. It shifts into 2nd very hard, then around 35 mph it starts free reving again. I just keep it at about 25 and limp it home. When I get home I let teh car run in park and I could hear a constant grinding sound. Sounds like it's coming from the tranny somewhere. I then checked the fluid, although it's full it does smell burnt. Basically I was wondering if anyone else could maybe give their opinons on whether it could have been internal problems, such as clutch packs. Or maybe my TC. I did have a shift kit and end clutch upgrade already, as well as an upgraded TC. And when I got the tranny out I didn't notice any metal coming from the TC and it seemed fine. But you can only do some much without opening it up. Now when I checked the drain plug on the tranny I noticed some metal shavings. Any help would be great, thanks.

did you get any trans codes? Mine kept slipping out of gears, even more so when I was trying to go up any hill. It was like the car didn't know which gear to be in, or if it wanted to be in neautral or not.

My problem ended up being two parts. First was way way way low on fluid, found out that when I was installing the tranny I must have jammed it into the frame on the back side, and busted that plate in the back. Fluid was coming out, and the bottom of my car looked like there was 2 gallons of fluid on it.

Second part of the problem was what I got from the computer, trans codes. They where 1, 2, and 3rd gear out of synch, and clutch damper cylinoid. That is the torque converter cylinoid in the valve body. I swapped the valve body out, filled it up with fluid and I haven't had any problems yet....
