I'm going to try and keep this brief. I've torn this trans down to the bare case and have a few questions for any experts out there. I'm not tryin to build race car or anything, btw. This was all brought on when the kickdown band broke and I lost OD and third. We drove it around (in fact it seemed real peppy in 1st and 2nd) and there where no crazy sounds or vibrations. Also note that this is original trans, rebuilt 63,000 miles back. There are many more pics at photobucket if interested.

1. Is this supposed to have temper/heat marks on it?

2. Transfer shaft bearing outer race - I essentially removed these by hand - it fits snug, and doesn't look like it has spun, but I thought they are normally pressed into the case. Crappy picture, sorry.

3. Kickdown servo spring, piston and sleeve -can't find any diagram showing these three pieces, can only really see spring and piston in diagrams I have. or what holds them together.

Well It took me a month, but I did it. Hard to say how well I did, but after 60 miles or so the fluid is still pink, I have no leaks, and it seems to operate perfectly. I took hundreds of pictures. All told with the rebuild kit my cost was under $450.

This job was the most complicated thing I have ever attempted (automotively). I'd love to post a detailed write up, but I type so slow it would take me weeks. I will upload a few pics soon.
