Hey guys I was on my way home and all of a sudden my af gauge went super rich maxes out and wouldn't accelerate past 3500 . I noticed that safc1 kept turning back on so I fixed a loose wire now the car idles at max lean and if you touch the gas pedal it maxes out at rich? What's going on

I would say first thing is to visibly check the ic hoses to make sure they aren't off then boost leak test.

After that check your fuel pressure

And what do you mean the safc turns back on. It should be on the whole time the car is on. If its turning off there is your problem.

+1 on the BLT... also, i know you probably already did this but after you fixed the loose wire did you check to make sure your unit did not re-initialize itself and zero everything out. You may have to double check that all your prior settings are still saved where you last had them. Could also be something faulty with the safc unit itself if your A/f ratios are spazing out now.

5 min wasn't enough time to do a boost leak test.

Just because it looks fine doesn't mean it IS fine.

Lol trust me I have had one before it's not that. My af r lean at idle but if I touch the gas it goes all the gas they max out rich.

Not all boost leaks look the same, nor do they all produce exactly the same symptoms. Having had one before doesn't mean that you now have the magical ability to detect all boost leaks without actually testing the system. And lean at idle is a symptom of certain boost leaks ... as you know from having had one before.

Yea but why when you touch the gas it jumps to rich.

Any other input guys this is my dd I need it running.

So I developed this weird problem after one of my safc wires kept causing it to keep restarting so I fixed my safc and it's still doing. At idle it is all the way lean if I touch the gas pedal it maxes out at rich. I have no idea what this could I have everything setup on the safc.

This is what it looks like while I drive autometer narrow band - Google Search

Its a narrowband and only reads voltage. In other words. Its useless to tune.

Get a wideband if you want an accurate reading.

the gauge sweeping lean to rich is not a problem with the car its a problem with the gauge, It is almost usless for tuning and will sweep like that whenever you hit the gas. It will even go lean to rich rapidly while cruising, no rpm changes.

So why is my car not accelerating over 3500 without missing like crazy you can smell the gas when the gauge says lean and when I was trying to limp it home my gauge was all the way rich. Could it be my fpr?

First get a wideband, narrow band wont tell you anything.

What problem did you have? Whats wrong with the car other than the light showing lean?

Okay idk if you guys ever tried to drive while the safc was set on hot-wire but that's what it does super rich all the way maxes out like the picture and it misses like crazy. The only way I was able to drive was if I unplugged my safc but I wasn't able to excelerate past a certain point. And it smells like gas when it's idling.

I have it set on karmen everything zerod out.

I had almost the identical problem when I bought my car changed it to the correct mode and the car was back to normal double check that.

Is this reading a Wideband or a Narrowband that just says " Rich " and " Lean " ?

Yesterday I had weird air fuel problems now today I checked all of my safc connections and I go to start the car up and I get a click and all the power goes away but when I take the key out I hear the ecu turn off and my seat belt and door ajar light work but my power locks are really slow. So I tried to start it again and I get a really fast loud clicking by the ecu and the power issue again. Could the battery be dead because I was turning my car on and off alot yesterday while trying to fix the a/f problem. I just want to make sure before I go and burn something up and I already tried cleaning my battery terminals. It seems like alot of people have this problem but never said how they fixed it. Any help is appreciated.Btw I opened my ecu and didn't see anything bad just a tiny drop of tan juice and it was in my safc too.

A/F problem? - YouTube

Whats going on? The only reason it's cycling or moving is because I turned it up on the safc others It would stay at the first lean mark and when you rev it all the way to the rich mark.

It appears your gague is a NARROWBAND O2 sensor gague, which displays the AFR value the factory narrowband O2 sensor is indicating. It oscillates between rich and lean because the car's ECU uses this sensors' information to fuel the car in its "closed loop" portion of the fuel curve. This is normal operation for this sensor. If you want data to tune off of, purchase a WIDEBAND O2 controller and sensor from Innovate, AEM, or the may others avaliable.
