The air conditioning in my car was working fine one day and the next day it doesn't blow cold air anymore. It blows the usual amount of air it just isn't cold. I figured if it was due to lack of freeon (or whatever its called R34 or something like that) it would gradually go from cooling good to cooling less and less and less until it was normal temperatured air. But it went from working fine to not cooling overnight. So does this mean that my compressor went out or could be be freeon. How can I check for symptoms? What do you guys think?

Thanks again, you guys have helped me so much on this forum.

p.s. My cousin told me to turn the wheel (in between the pulley) of the compressor and if it still turned then it was fine. It did turn easily, I don't know if that helps at all.

I would try and refill it with a can, I think its like two bucks. See if maybe it just needed a recharge. If you recharges it and a couple days later or even right away it goes back to outside air temp then check your lines for wear. An a/c compressor isn't very expensive, but try the charging first.

Make sure it's not something simple before you buy a control unit. I would bypass the compressor relay as the linked post suggests to eliminate the relay, compressor clutch and compressor before you dump money into a control unit.

I'd try to hook up a borrowed can of 134-A with a gauge on the suction or return line of the compressor, it may be out of gas and tripped the low pressure safety control.
