Hi I am new to the forum and love my 99 n/t rs. I have a problem with my 99 eclipse rs. I bought the car Sept and it did not start making this noise until November. It happens every now and then when it rains, snows and on cold days. Even when I step on the gas hard I can hear the chirping noise by the gear slash belt area. There is a chirping sound and I pinpointed it at this location by the pictures. Can someone please tell me what the problem may be? I know this is not the timing belt it is the regular belt am I correct? Is it the gear itself or the belt I should replace I have seen some rusting by the screw that holds the belt as seen in the pictures below. Please help me and how serious is this problem? Thanks all comments welcome.
