I have a 98 GS automatic now and am looking to upgrade........

I found this car.....http://www.cars.com/go/search/detai...|P-PRICE+descending|Q-descending&aff=national

is 123,111 too much milage for this car......should i blow it off.

I do live in a rich area so, the prices might be higher than in the south or west.

Also http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...1999&start_year=1997&isp=y&lang=en&cardist=25

this is another option.........

what breaks first on GSX's......i want to be able to catch that before i buy....

thx:dsm:

I picked up my 98 with 58K on the clock for 9200 from a Mitsu dealer (they originally wanted 10,200 for it). Go for the green one, but talk them down. It's hard to find one that's stock, but there's nothing specific to the GSX that fails more than other models.

Bring a compression tester with you and make sure that it drives properly, boosts well and doesn't have major issues. Have them put it on a lift and look underneath it for oil leakage, etc. With that much mileage, you'll need to verify if the timing belt components were replaced before 60K. Since that's almost 1K at the dealership, use it as a bargaining chip to lower the price. If I had a choice between a later model with more miles or a slightly older one with half, I'd get the one with significantly less mileage. But, I'd negotiate the green one down to 9500 or so.

Good luck on making your choice.

I purchased my GSX from that same dealer(the green one). I have had the car for over 8 months no problmes knock on wood. He has alot of import cars there. Go for a test drive like andy said, and check everything. Def looks like a nice ride. I would go with the green one!!

thx............i am hoping to go up this weekend

i like your advice and will probally go with the GSX, it all depends though.

i could use that 2k on parts for the GST instead of spending it on the GSX.

(i heard the AWD is killer tho!)

Yea when i was searching to find my car i did the same thing i almost bought a gst but im so glad i didnt awd is such a great car and it is definitly a killer. i bought my gsx 1997 for 6500 with 113k on it. It was an older lady and she just wanted to sell it quick so i got a great deal. It was 100% stock too.
