99 Auto Mustang GT vs my 93 talon AWD...help QUICK

ok tonight (friday) some kid with a completely stock, automatic, 1999 automatic Mustang GT wants to race me. I got a bunch of stuff laying around the house waiting to go on my car, but the only things installed are my upper intercooler pipe, 1g bov, dejon tool intake pipe, hacked mas, k&n filter..and thats all. I want to get my boost controller in and push a little more boost....but i dont have my boost gauge in yet so i dont think thats very safe.

so he tells me he wants to race for 50 bucks...ive never racen for money, but damn, im pretty sure i can pull on this car in the 1/4 mile and if i can get 50 bucks out of it then im going to do it.

so lemme know what you think, you think i will win? its an automatic so thats where i think i will get an advantage. and he said i can pop the hood and everything to make sure its all stock.

Yeah that happened to me when I went to go race a riced out cavalier one night.My legs just started shaking with adrenaline,I was so pumped up I dropped the clutch and as a result I sat spinning tires and lost my first race.Against a Cavalier!!How embarassing I was so asshamed

oooooo ya that does suck. Luckily i havnt loss to a cavalier yet. do you have trouble finding races? i have a hard time. and when i do i can never get to a clearing where there are no cars or at least some room to race. like today i was messing with an integra for like 3 miles, turned and messed for another mile and never got a clear area to go. it was mostly i would fly up on him and swirve through traffic, i'd slow down, hed do the same, but nothing good. it sucks. anyone else have that problem?

ya i got that problem sometimes. but other times the roads are really open. depends on what time of day and all that.

anyways, the mustang dude was pretty tyte about his win, not all bragging and shit....cuz he knew my car did damn good against his 8 cylinder. so im not all upset.

The jivers yup Ive had those and let me tell , they feel like the shivvers but your legs are bopping like they got the jives ,,,well cuddos to the gsx you lost and you did it proud and not stiffing out.

I hate ppl when they lose and just drive off after words because they dont wanna pay ,, well in my opinion if you are not running low and I mean low twelves to begin with dont race for at all.

That's what I love about these cars....

Up the boost, do a couple mods, you'll take him to the cleaners.

He'll regear his rearend, add an h-pipe or x-pipe catback exhaust, pullies, do an intake manifold swap, swap in bigger cams, and he might pick up a full second in the 1/4 after $2500 in mods.

We just need a boost controller, a boost gauge, exhaust, and maybe a fuel pump to pick up a full second.

you wouldnt race unless you were hitting low 12's???? against a stock automatic mustang GT?? ok, well hes going down next weekend when all my stuff is on!

next time i race ill know to listen to everyone on the board and not think i can outrun a damn mustang GT with uicp and intake.

I've had it happen before, not often but it does happen.

Get that boost controller and get your damn money back.
