2G 98 Spyder GST trans pops out of 4th?

hey guys, i have a 98 Spyder GST manual, and every time i put the car into 4th gear and accelerate it pops out and goes into neutral. It's really weird. All my other gears work fine and if i hold it in 4th i can drive it, but as soon as i let go the shifter and give it a little gas, clunk, back in neutral. please help

Had the same problem with my tranny i found out the tranny was no good. third gear was trashed.

I had to get another tranny. did it work fine earlier and how many miles are on it? With me there was no way getting around it, it was shot.

swap in a used transmission, or have yours rebuilt

Yup, sounds like its def. time for a different tranny.

Rebuild sounds the way to go, one less thing to worry about. Get a used one it may be ok for a while, then again maybe not. Look at the time and money that you would do if you get a not so good used one. I did this spend 400 on one that was supposed to be rebuilt, it wasnt so i got a great deal here at TRE on mine rebuilt. No more problems

well the car has 171 thousand miles. it was doing good until just a couple days ago and today it was giving me the main problem of popping out of gear everytime in 4th. could the tranny be low in fluid?

Check it and find out, low fluid could cause a tranny to fail depending on how low.
I know because thats what happened when mine blew out.

being low on fluid will cause the trans to go bad and start popping out of gear but filling it all the way up can't fix a bad tranny. If its low on fluid its because it has a leak at the input shaft...give it a shot fill it back up if fliud leaks anywhere but the fill plug its time for a rebuild.

i know that it was leaking a little bit at the joining centers underneat the car... and i filled it up a while ago... but i'll try that in the morning and see if that helps
