front balance shaft belt lost all its teeth and took out the cps. so i replaced the cps and timing belt, put a new belt on the balance shaft and triple checked the timing marks. fired her up and she runs fine but rattles like all get out. balance shaft bearings? someone please help

i let it run longer and longer and now its about 6 or 7 psi? It rises when I give it gas so the oil pumps good right?

Its fine if you just cut the belt. I just wanted to be sure what setup you're running.

Are those numbers from a standalone pressure gauge?

6-7 at idle is pretty low. factory spec is over 10 for sure. Don't remember exactly what.

You think with it spittin that bearing out even after flushing engine real good it got into the mains and now there's too much clearance? Runnin 10w30? It goes up when I give it gas

yes a standalone, sorry

No. If the shavings clogged something it would increase pressure at the gauge while starving the engine of oil after the clog.

Did you use a remanufactured crank? Did you plastigauge the clearances between crank and bearing?

750 rpms or so. everythings still factory, just tried to clean it up real good. no other issues, it runs like a champ. customer doesnt have much money trying to help her out.

You might try increasing idle speed a little. That pressure is a little low, but honestly she could just switch to 20W40 and she'd probably be fine for a very long time. It's most likely just wear on the oil pump and loose bearing clearances contributing to the pressure. Use the heavier oil and see what you get. Being a Georgia car, I'd imagine you're not going to be seeing freezing temperatures often anyway. Granted my car is turbo, but I run 20W40 in the summers up here.

Sounds like you've got a small internal oil leak. What's the idle rpm when you're seeing below 8psi?

My oil pressure would jump around right after the rebuild until I tightened the heck out the front case

My suggestion would be to go ahead and flip the front shaft bearings and run diesel oil. That's the best I can suggest without having to take too much stuff apart.
