on a first gen 6 bolt does the balance shaft tensioner pullleys bolt hold the oil pump on too? I broke the bolt off its like 2mm below the surface of the outside of the pump...How do I get it out if It holds the oil pump in
 
The front B shaft hole needs a bolt in ti to keep oil from comming out but it doesnt hold the pump on. You can get an extractor tool from Sears for a few bucks just becareful not to damage anything.

oo ok i gotcha, it goes into the block but its not threaded threw the pump, so after i remove all the bolts to change the pump it should slide off the bolt hopefully

The Balance Shaft Tensioner Pulley is NO WHERE NEAR the Oil Pump - so WTF are you talking about? :confused:
 
basically i overtighted the bolt and the head broke off kinds made it flush with the cover
 
Honestly I dotn know WTF you are talking about so here is what I know. If you still have a B shaft you need to get that bolt out and put a new one in so that the belt has tension. If you dont have B shafts than you still need to put some bolt in there so oil wont leak out. you could leave the broken one in but it may back out with vibration and you will have abig mess and have to pull all that back off again.

All that bolt does it hold the tensioner. It does not attach to anything else what so ever.

I did the same exact thing, and after 2 sets of gaskets (dont ask) and 2 weeks, the cars up and running again.

To answer your Q, yes... it goes into the block, but there are other bolts to support the case.

Just get a drill and some nice bits, and drill it out and use a exctractor to get the old bolt out.
 
Yea thats exactly what i wanted to hear...I was just making sure when I take the pump off to change it i wont have a problem. Im sure that once I get the pump off Ill be able to grip the rest of the bolt and get it outa there
 
Yea I did away with them, but for the split seconds the car starts(before it blows the gasket) its leaking oil from the front cover or one of the seal i changed on the oil pump. So im gunna toss the pump and put a new one. Ive head of these covers actually warping, is that true?either way im changin it
 
Typically that oil leak is from the Balance Belt Tensioner hole (RTV) or Timing Belt Tensioner Fasteners, (I used soft Loctite on those) - You need both Soft & Hard Loctite & Gray or Hi Temp RTV to do a Front Case & Oil Pump job properly - I find the Hi-Temp RTV easier to work with as it sets up MUCH slower - Torque all those fasteners carefully - You could crack a Front Case, I don't see how you could warp one.
 
I didnt realize it could be coming out of the hyd. tensioners bolt holes...hmmm maybe when I rip it all apart again ill try some rtv in the holes and locktite see how that works...thanks
