98 gsx burning some oil

burning about 1 quart every 3k miles, im using non synthetic 10-30. engine has 113k miles so i was wondering if i should look into this further or sounds normal for engine with this many miles.

It is probably your T25 starting to go.

Check your PCV valve.

I would check a few things, Its easy to check your "Shaft Play" on the turbo. See if it goes up and down, and side to side. Up and Down is not what you want.

Does it blow smoke at full boost? That would hint the turbo. Other than that, could be any of the normal engine oil burning issues, like valve stem seals, or other oil leaks on the driveway.

The t-25 is pretty bad and from what ive seen go bad around 100k. Exactly first thing to check is turbo shaft play to rule that out and go on from there.

I had the same problem on my 96. The t-25 finally crapped out on me. It had some in/out shaft play, but it only smoked after full boost for a few seconds then went away. Have since ungraded to 16g and an oil catch can between the valve cover and intake.

Have you checked your intercooler pipes and/or core for oil buildup?
