burning oil.

Ok i seem to be burning oil
It is only noticeable at idle. I had friend get behind the car and watch while i revved it. It puffs smoke when you first give it throttle, It stop and then it puffs smoke whenever you let off the throttle.
When I am driving I only notice it when I come to a stop and can visually see it.

Now I do believe the turbo may be on its last leg. anything over 12 pounds of boost when the turbo is hot i get the Whine of death like the thrust bearing may be about gone.

whats the easiest way to tell if its the turbo? Look for oil in the J-pipe and the LICP???

As far as the PCV goes I was thinking of just getting a catch can and try that.

sounds like my eclipse when i first bough it with a blown turbo. Does it blow smoke after you build any ammount of boost and let off?

I am not really sure as I can't ever see any blue smoke in the rear view while driving

my eclipse wasn't blowing blue smoke, it was more black if anything. And yes i was burning oil since i found every turbo oil seal in my oil pan 0_0. Have you checked for shaft play on your turbo at all?

When I first got the car there was just a little side to side play.
I have to do some things to it today, so I will check it out again.
