so I traded my perfectly running 97 eclipse rs with 144K+ miles on it for a 95 eclipse gs-t with less than 17k miles on it...

the reason for the trade was rather simply, my car ran, his didn't. he needed a clutch put in it, the right side cv, and the car needed put back together, he let one of his "friends" work on it and his friend tore the turbo off of the car, breaking a banjo bolt for the coolant line, and snapping a coolant line for the turbo. he wanted to put the parts from the gs-t onto his geo prism...

so when I got the car, the engine was about 3/4 of the way out of the car, the transmission I had to push back up because the cross member was out of the car, and I had to hook up the lower suspension arm was unhooked from the inside...

so today I took the transmission out of it, and in inspecting the clutch, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it. so I checked the throw out bearing, and that's fine too... I'm not too sure what to think now.

oh, and with this being my first turbocharged car, I have no idea what I'm doing with the turbo... so any suggestions on basically anything, I'm pretty open minded right now!

thanks for listening!

Get an SS oil feed line for the turbo. Replace the banjo bolt, obviously.
Run that oil feed line in place of the original, then the turbo is a direct bolt up. It's halfway simple.
And I'm not so sure about 2g's, but on my 1g, all it takes to remove the rad fans is two screws on top of the housing, and one on the bottom, along with a quick release electrical harness on top, they pull straight up, making mucho working room.
Tell up more about the bad cv.

the cv seems fine, except for the inner boot being cut, there isn't much play in it when it's hooked up to the transmission, so I think all I need there is a boot and some new grease and it will be ok.

my major concern lies with the clutch, it's an act clutch, so it's painted yellow, is it normal for the paint to chip on the outside of the pressure plate? and the pressure plate itself looks as it it got really heated, it's got the blue, red, and orange heat marks on it, should I worry about it being warped? I have a dynapak clutch kit waiting to go in to replace the old one (it came with the car) but I'd much rather keep the act in it if I can.

I was thinking the same thing, I'm going to take the old pressure plate to a machine shop to see if it's warped tho. as much as I hate to do it, I'll have to continue to drive the ranger for a while longer... LOL

so would anyone happen to be able to tell me the size of the banjo bolt that holds the oil line onto the head? there are no shops in my area that can look up the bolt, and even if I take the threaded part of the bolt in, they tell me "Oh, I don't have anything like that." it's rather irritating, I don't want them to give me something like I have, I want them to give me a banjo bolt!

so in short... around here, if you say the word "turbo" the people at the parts stores, machine shops... etc. start to hesitate and studder like they don't know what you talking about... the most recent reply I've gotten is "your going to have to go to a dealer for that, I don't even have anything to compare it to." and the nearest mitsubishi dealership is about 2 hours away, 1 way... if I have to, I'll drive 4 hours for a bolt, but I didn't quite have that in mind... LOL

i wouldnt use the existing clutch if it had hot spots on it. could result in chatter and very unpleasant driving. if you have a new one, may as well put it in now while its still apart.

good call, I didn't take it to a machine shop to have it checked, but I checked it with a strait edge, and it wasn't flat at all, so just to make sure I checked the new pressure plate with the same strait edge, and no light shined through, so that saved me a little time anyway! LOL

I got the clutch in, but it's about time for me to get around for work. so I had to stop there for the day, I do need some clutch lines tho, any recommendations?

So, I ended up making my own banjo bolt, the specs of the bolt are M10x1.25 with 11/64" holes both vertical and horizontal. if anyone else was wondering

Now I'm fighting with the coolant lines for the turbo... does anyone know of a decent ss kit to get, for both oil and liquid lines? I need the water line that hooks up to the up to the main water line on the engine. everything else is just a bonus! :D

The transmission mount on the right side fell apart today when I went to pick it up, so that needs new inserts for that too
