Both need engine work, the 96 engine and tranny are already out of car and has new head. Had a rod knock. The 98 spyder timing belt broke, damage unkown. $1500 for 96 and $2000 for spyder. Which one would you go for?

Edit: title GST spyder.

Spyder gets my vote, ebay has a good arm to replace the weak stock arms for under $100. I love my spyder and I live in Oregon.

96 talon tsi, I dontknow the issues yet. So far price is $1800

You live in FL... Id say get a spyder. But Im not a racer, Im a DD who lives in CA and enjoy cruising with the top down on my GST. although at high speeds with the top up the wind noise sucks in the spyders.

Keep in mind this is only my response to your OP, "GST or GST Spyder"... Id take a GSX over either.

Hows it going down the interstate at 80mph? I drive down to ft. lauderdale every two months. Road noise sucks but if my stereo drowns it out I don't mind.

95 Talon awd sold :( I also came across another spyder but auto, amazing 82k miles on it. $2500. If converted AWD I read that auto GSXs are quicker.

Road noise isn't too bad. As long as the top is in good cond. My exhaust is loud so my soft top doesn't drown that out too well but it's not to loud to talk or listen to music at all

Even with a loud system the road noise is still rough, but I think im dealing with a bad seal on the drivers side rear window.
My first DSM was a 97 GST Spyder A/T, honestly A/Ts bore me while im driving. If you can drive stick, you should. IMHO

On a side note, the token "Paaasheeeee" noise is much more noticable (to me anyways) on my M/T.

Get the Spyder & an AWD parts car. Fix/swap the motor and when your tired of spinning the tires swap in the AWD parts. I did mine, it's not that hard and it drives great.

The wind noise does not bother me nearly as much as my loud exhaust. The exhaust itself is about the same as my 93 GSX but it's louder in the Spyder. One other thing that I have noticed is that on the highway with the top down there is a lot of wind blowing through the cabin, more than some other convertibles.
