95 tsi torque converter need to know asap

k so my car would not move i was told it was the torque converter so i pulled my engine now that i have it out is there a way to see if its bad?

if i shake the torque converter it side to side i can hear something moving around with about 1/2 inch of slack? is that nomal?
 
there not many way to know if a torque converter is good the only way to see into it is too cut it :( but its not normal to hear something loose . Normally when you shake it nothing is supposed to move. I would change it if where you
 
IT is actually perfectly normal to hear something move around in the converter. the stator will move around a bit in there is for shake it.
 
Who told you the converter was bad? It drives the pump so if the pump goes you usually have nothing. If a converter goes you hear noise inside it when running most the time....but not sure on these cars.
