95 tsi Knock Sensor/Gauge issues?

Not sure what the issue is but anytime im in 4th or 5th gear just cruising at like 5psi boost the knock count gauge will sky rocket. But when i run it hard and hit 19 psi the gauge doesnt move. It isnt even close to consistent. I drove for like 120 miles today it did it once on a flat open highway and didnt do it going up a 2 mile hill. But the day before i drove it 20 miles and it would do it anytime i got to 5 pounds or higher.( only in 4th or 5th gear) I really dont know what the issue is I just bought the car 2 weeks ago and it just started. I have no audible knocks i can hear nor a loss or power what so ever. And if this sounds like a bad knock sensor where is it located so i can take a look at it? Your knock sensor is on the backside of your block and below the intake manifold. It will be a PITA to get to.
