Hello all, first and foremost, I am new to DSM's, and yes I have been researching my topic, but not really coming up with too much... To what I have researched, I may have an idea what my problem is...

So first off, I bought my first DSM, 95 Talon TSI AWD from a Mitsubishi dealership last week, and the car has 150K on it, or roughly 94000 miles, pretty much stock besides a BOV, accell 8mm wires, eibach springs, and aftermarket cat back exhaust.

When I purchased the car, I did the oil change, changed the plugs, topped off all fluids, and checked the car over... seemed fine. When I brought it on the highway, the car ran fine until I tried to go WOT... When I hit 3000 rpms, and boost kicks in, the car stumbles and stutters and backfires a little. When I accellerate slowly, the car is fine, no backfire, and boost goes to 10-12psi [autometer boost gauge]. The car also idles fine, no problems.

When I looked under the hood when I got home, I noticed that the blow off valve was venting to the atmosphere, I think the previous owner was going for more noise...So I rented the BOV [purple top Greddy BOV, not sure what model this is?????] back to the intake pipe.

So from what I have researched here, the first thing I am going to do tomorrow morning is do a boost pressure test on my system to find leaks... next, I read on a post that it may be that my timing jumped??? I don't know if this applies because this only happens at WOT? Secondly, could it be that I may have to replace my MAF??

Any and all opinions appreciated

Thanks!

BTW, loving my new toy...

how does it drive after you hood BOV back the way its supposed to be, does it still do it? i dont think your timing jumped cause that would cause it to run bad all the time.

Yes, after I vented it back to the intake, it still drives the same, with acceleration stutter beginning when I get on the throttle. I am going to do a boost leak test today

try gapping your plugs to 28mm no more then 32mm. Also did u change your coil packs if do so. See when the last time the fuel filter has been changed.. hope this was helpful.:thumb:
