Hey all had a question looking for an answer. Finally got all the little stuff done on the GSX and got it out on the road, I must say it is amazing to finally drive her, but it is definitely having trans issues. The trans does not slip at all and you can pull hard in all gears, the problem is the shifting. 1-2 is not bad at all but 2-3 is like watching paint dry. Takes about 2 secs ,shifts longer with higher rpms, but once in 3rd pulls like a bad mofo. My question is you guys think I should IPT kit it or just rebuild the whole trans. I searched the forums but wasn't able to find anyone with this specific shift issue, most sounded like they had other underlying trans issues, i.e. slippage/sunshell wear. This trans seems to work perfect just seems like the servos are taking to long to pressurize. Anyways thanks for looking! See you out there!

Does it have a shift kit yet?

My son (Black97Spyder) has a 97 Talon AWD and we have done the IPT end clutch kit and a 175 shift kit then he put a shift box on it and it shifts lightning fast. NO lag at all. His Spyder just has a shift kit and it hits quick too. Just my end of it. My car is a stick :(

Did you guys have delayed shifts before your end clutch/shift kit replacement? Was the box necessary with the shift kit, or was it all done at once? Sorry so many questions ,just trying to decide where my first fix is gonna go.

We did my sons car in stages, with the end clutch first. Then decided that it needed a shift kit and that made a big difference but he was noticing still a lag in shifts that would make a considerable difference in et's so he installed the shift box and now his trans shifts super fast. Its not my car but I ride in it occasionally.

This is the first time I hear about this problem. I think you should rebuild it for what you're gonna use it for. If you plan been on the track go full performance. If it's a daily driver just rebuild to where is shifting normal.
Definitely man last night I had the same thoughts running in my head.I had another wa433 out in the shed, so I pulled this one gonna rebuild it on the side, hopefully this other trans works better. Taking a 20 minute break ,just have to reinstall my axles, lower x member and fill it up with fluid . I'm going to go with ipt's full performace rebuild kit.

Thanks for the replies my friend, decided to swap my other tranny in ,crossing my fingers this trans will run well enough till i get my other one rebuilt. Will post pics of what exactly was causing the issues once I get it apart.

And I'm definitely doing all of your son's mods plus a rebuild.

VERY good idea. If you need anymore info, PM me. He has a Metro Built trans in his Talon and our own setup in his Spyder. :)
