Resolved 95 fuel sensor with 97 wiring

Has anyone done the 4 wire to 2 wire conversion for the unit that sits behind the drivers seat in the fuel tank? I have a 97 harness in a gsx but my unit and tank is a 95, currently not able to get any reading on the gas gauge and I’ve even checked a different cluster.

Hoping someone has done this conversion previously?

I appreciate you daniel! Luckily I had an old harness ran to the shop and had my fuel gauge working in 10 minutes!

The AWD connector is 6 pin. I chopped mine off and did exactly what he did in the video. Turned my key on and my gauge worked!

Not sure if you guys can confirm that these wires are correct behind the drivers seat unit also. The plug was disconnected and wires pulled out when I got the car

Mine might be a bit different so my harness in the car is a 97 from an awd originally . The gas tank and the harness on top of the tank is a 95 from a awd. Those wires already match up which is why I’m thinking it’s the plug that goes across to the drivers side

I think it’s my wiring on the unit behind the drivers seat. Does anyone have. Photo of the wires to show which one goes where into the plug

Still having the same issue. I was hoping it was the cluster but replaced that over the winter and it didn’t go away. Was actually going to try trouble shooting it this weekend with thinking maybe the float was stuck and then I’d check electrical but mastermatt messaged me and was having the same
Issues so figured I’d open a thread up to try and see if we could trouble shoot both

Just tried grounding out the yellow wire on the drivers side sending unit and the gauges goes up. Guess that leaves me with either a bad sending unit, bad ground or I have pin my yellow wire in the wrong spot on the connector since I repinned it

You should pull your sending unit out and ohm it out. Make sure it reads from the top to the bottom smoothly through out and there isn’t any corrosion on the contacts.

Got it working and changed the original seal on the drivers side. I think the connector was loose inside the tank. Seems to be working now.
