I think my 95 awd auto ecu is going bad so I bought a 96 ecu(awd and auto) to replace it with. Well I took out the 95 ecu and there was 2 plugs going into it. The 96 ecu has spots for 4 plugs??? So 2 are left open. That doesnt seem right and the car ran like crap with the 96 ecu in it. ANy ideas why my 95 eprom ecu has only 2plugs going into it and would this be the reason for the car running like crap with having 2 open plugs.

heres the new ecu. It is a turbo awd auto ecu.

ANy ideas:confused:

96 and up is OBD2 and the 95 ECU is OBD1 those extra plugs could be for the newer emissons system on the OBD2 cars. if you figure out why there are more plugs let us know.

There are only 2 spots for plugs on my 95 ecu so when I hook up the 96 euc there is 2 empty spots for plugs on it??

anyone else done a 95 eprom ecu swap to a new ecu. Do i leave the extra plugs open????:confused

When I put in the 96 ecu the car runs really crappy too. I dont have a mbc hooked up at this time so it reads 14 psi with the 95 euc and when I put on the 96 ecu it dropped to 5 psi and felt wrong.

Are you sure that 95's aren't OBDII? Because how come you can use an OBDII pocketlogger with a 95  :D Some cars had OBDII before 1996, but OBDII wasn't required until 1996. Most states run OBDI tests (tailpipe sniffer I think) on 95 DSMs even tho they have OBDII, just because it wasn't a complete government standard till 96.

Check out this diagram: http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ecu-harness-2G.html

Which plugs does your car have (like 1-26, 31-46, 51-62, or 71-92)? That way I can tell what signals aren't getting to the ECU. Does your speedometer work?
