hello. i am currently in the process of restoring a 93 talon tsi. as of now it has the stock 7 bolt that i recently got running. It needs a complete gasket kit and maybe new rings.
But i recently recieved for free!
a 91 or 92 6 bolt motor. here is my problem. I was offered 500 bux for the 6 bolt longblock-head,block ,internals and oil pan. I could use that money to rebuild the 7 bolt and go from there, or i could take the 6 bolt assuming the compresion is good, put all new gaskets in it, redo the t belt oil pump water pump and tensioner, remove the balance shafts and put it in using all the external parts from the 7 bolt setup already in the car. My goal is 300-350 hp but someday i might want to go higher(maybe) i dont know yet.
either way i want to remove the balance shafts from whatever motor i use, put in a new t-belt, tensioner and water pump. and make sure the oil pump is in good shape. My goal is between 300-350 hp using an evo 3 16g and exhaust mani, 550 injectors and all the other supporting mods. also seeing as i dont make a terrible amount of money i was going to use the money from the sale of the 6bolt to finance the begining of the 7 bolt redo. but if the 6 bolt is really that worth it , ill bite the bullet and save up some more.
what would you guys do. Are they any other things i should do to the motor i will use to make it daily driver reliable.
thanks so much, i need to make this decision very soon.
