Greetings. My Eclipse is an automatic GSX, stock that I am restoring. As you can see I have the notorious problem with the tcu. A replacement is very hard to come by. My question is, will a TCU from a non turbo from the same year solve me while I get the right one? Thanks in advance

Thanks for the info. The reason for not installing the shift box is that I want to keep the car working as stock as possible. It is only used on weekends. You tell me that the TCU of the non turbo will work. What difference in behavior can there be?

Are you sure it is the computer and not a sensor that feeds the TCU information? Bad or missing information will make the TCU go into "limp" mode (so will bad capacitors, like our ECU's).
PM sent.
I bet anything that one or all of these caps are leaking and replacement could fix your issue if you are having one. The corrosion on the transistor legs is pretty evident.
See the attached clip of your board. I have read that the one to look out for is the one by the heatsink and this looks like it needs some cleanup and caps replaced.

That dark spot in the center of the port expander is the sign of death. When the capacitors leak on a TCU it usually results in the voltage regulator failing and pumping 12v onto the 5v power and frying everything.

Thank you Steve:thumb:
It was from one of your post's that I remembered you saying the cap by the heatsink is usually the "one" if it is just one.

You remember correctly. C112 in the photo, the larger 47uf capacitor is the one that usually leaks causing all these problems.
