Seeking some direction on this issue.

The Talon just died in the middle of the street! I was at idle waiting to turn. Got it trailered home and found the cam gears not turning while cranking it over, accessory belts turning.

Timing belt replaced less than 10k miles about 6 yrs ago. Belt seems to be intact and tight. Any ideas on this? Should I start at the Timing belt cover or?
Thanks for any and all suggestions.

There are "witness marks". Plan on replacing those valves in that cylinder. They aren't super expensive if it didn't hurt the guides or seats. It would take a good lapping in of new valves to know they are sealing. Good job of scoping the cylinders.
Thanks for your interest and feedback, I should be able to pressurize the cylinders later this afternoon and provide details after that. Assuming #3 cylinder valves are bent, should I take the opportunity to rebuild the entire cylinder head? Currently trying to source parts and not having my luck with finding a tbelt kit, I normally purchase parts from J&Z, but they are out of stock on the parts I need. Rock auto has some but thier parts are mostly made in China, I hate putting junk parts on this car. Any suggestions on where to source parts from?
Thanks again for your participation!

You dont even need a leakdown now. You found the problem.
Thanks for the feedback, I did find hit marks on #3 piston, but that issue is due to the tbelt shearing its teeth, I'm still unclear on what caused this, everything the belt was in contact with all moves freely including the camshafts. The belt was well within its lifetime, as well as a quality belt. Sitting at idle, the belt just gave up?
Thanks for your interest in this!

Have a machine shop do a full freshen up of the head. I always have them surfaced also for a new, flat surface. If using a composite head gasket, the RA value (smoothness) of the surface is not as important as if you are going to use a MLS head gasket. For those, COMETIC recommends a RA of 50 or better (lower).
Just some engine stuff to ponder.

I couldn't tell from pictures, is the belt oil contaminated? Any number of things could have contributed to belt life. My personal car had a 14 year old belt at 55k miles. I didn't break but I did not trust it. I use a 5 year or 40k interval and I will not use gates belts. Had one break at 50k. You should look at all rotating items.

Thanks for the info and question. The belt did have some oil on it from a small valve cover leak, not satuated with oil. As of now, that's the only abnormal problem found with the belt and components. I will source a good quality belt, much too risky not to! Thanks for your interest in this!

You might consider the Evo 9belt

I was going to post "I bet Paul would use a Evo belt" so I won't. I use the Evo belt on my engines also.

Thanks for the info gents! Where is a good place to buy the Evo 9 belt? Also who manufacturers a good quality belt?

Got some time with the Talon last night, tried a leakdown test on #1 cylinder @ 100 PSI, piston at TDC, won't hold pressure longer than 10 seconds or so. When I initially put pressure on the cylinder it sound like something dropped into the oil pan... I'm guessing maybe the oil pan was expanding under pressure making that tink tink noise. Same with the #3 cylinder won't hold psi longer than a few seconds. I didn't hear air leaking from top of head. Not sure where psi is going.. I will do some research and see what I'm doing wrong and try again tonight. Any ideas on this?

Show us your tester. Its not supposed to hold pressure. You're supposed to apply it and leave it on and compare the regulator source to the applied source. You'll see two different pressures and take a percent difference between the two.

Jnz can get what you need.

This is where I normally shop for parts, they are currently out of stock on timing belt kits. I've got some time, my DSM will be up on blocks for the rest of the season.

Thanks for the info, so as I understand the proceedure, apply compressed air, leave the source air on, then watch the 2nd Guage for pressure loss?

Utube shows shutting off supply psi... then watching 2nd gauge for pressure loss.

Thanks for your help with this, I'll post images of the leakdown test later tonight.
