I recently bought a 90 awd talon. It has a 91 awd trans in it, however it doesnt go into reverse. Short of rebuilding the 90 awd trans that I have and spending more than I bought the car for, I have been reading that you can swap a few things and get the 91 trans to work in the 90 car.

With that, what do I need to make the 91 awd transmission work correctly in my 90 awd talon? Thanks.

so the only thing that I would need to be not a "90" is the tranny, right?

This is what I am taking from this. Sorry if the answer seems obvious, but I want to be completely sure before I spend any money.

You have a 90 which has a 22 spline t-case and output shaft, you need a 23 spline for the new tranny. Well some 91s had 23 so I would check up on it. If it has 23 splines on the output shaft you need to get the 23 spline t-case to match up.

I personally put a 91 in my 90, but mine is a fwd. You do not need the 91 cables and shifter. All you need is that bracket that holds the cables to the transmission, unless you want the shorter throw of a 91. I personally like the feel of the 1990 shifter.
