Hey guys. I have a 91+ in my 90.
What do I need to get it to work properly?

I have 94 Shifter, 94 cables. Do I need to use a 90 or a 91+ bracket that goes on the trans?

Lofty... did you get yourself a 23 spline T-case also?

Make sure all the shifter cables, shifter base and brackets match the transmission that's going in...

Yes, it will work without all these parts but it will be tough to get it into some gears.

Yes it could have a 23 spline trans, but my 91' had a 22 spline "set-up". Count'em.

Clutch is fine... Every gear goes in fine without the car running, with it I can't get into it.

can you start it up? Also did you change the shifter brackets to your 90 model like said?? I had to do that opposite and change mine to 91. All worked great after that. Before that, it was only going into 3rd,4th, 5th. GL

I have it done in my 90. You will have to check the splines on the output shaft of the 91 transmission to know what t-case to use. If I remember right I used my 90 cables and shifter base and swapped the shifter brackets on the transmission to the ones from the 90.

change the atuall shift lever on the trans, change the one that controls side to side shifter movement, this would be the one that is bolted on. Also i cant remember which way it goes but on some swaps you need to be carefull not to over shift the trans with the differance in leverage and movement.

*gulp*

I just bolted up a 91 AWD trans and T-Case to my 90' Last night due to the 90's synchros' being shot.

I know that you have to change the shifter bracket, so in my instance.. where the 91' Bracket that the shift cables bolt onto the trans itself, that has to be moved over for the 90' bracket from my old trans to take it's place. You can simply change out brackets, adjust the shifter assembly in the car, and it should be good to go, correct?

Also... quick side question, not meaning to thread jack...

With the trans in neutral... if I rotate the main shaft that the Clutch connects to... the output shaft that runs to the T-Case would turn for a moment and then slowly stop turning in unison until it stopped. If It was in gear, it'd turn at the same speed. o_o; Is this normal?
