91 tranny in a 90 awd

So i need to get a new tranny. I have a 90awd and i was wondering if a 91 awd will fit or do i have to make changes ?

The only difference between a 90 and 91-94 tranny are the shift levers on the tranny, you will have to get a 91-94 shifter base/cables to make it work

it should be ok but I'm not sure about the transfer case ratio and splines

In addition to what fwdmaster said, you will need a matching transfer case to go with the trans. 1990's were 22 spline and 1991+ were all 23 spline.

you would need a 91-94 trans a 91-94 23 spline xfer case, and 91-94 shift cables and shifter.
