I just swapped transmissions 91 on a 90 car I can use my
90 cables ,shifter ,braket that holds the cables on the tranny
?
Is this correct ?
I don't need 91 shifter 91 brakets or cables right?

I just needs to know if am on the right track

^- I Did this, but with a 94 Drivetrain. Had to swap almost everything.

Linkage mounts
Linkage
Shifter Assembly

I learned the hard way with trial and error, You will know it's wrong if you can access 3 gears but the other 3 do not fully engage.

I swapped over all the 91 parts shifter cables and brakets
And it did not work the cables where too long nothing lined up
So I went ahead and swapped all my 90 parts back on and it shifts
Can somebody chime in why do guys with 90 cars have to swap all the 91 parts
Or share your experience swapping this trans in your car

Did you change the shifter assembly as well?

What caused me the most issues was the shifter linkage bracket on the transmission, everything else was swapped along with the newer transmission. Even with the new components it still didn't go into 2nd, 4th, or Reverse properly. I had to change the bracket back to my original.

Everything on the 90 is what I would call "different" from the 91+ cars including the drivetrain components.

When i got my car it had a Beautiful split on the transmission from the bolt almost down to the center of the bell housing. Causing me to have to swap it out, well.. no 90's we're available but a buddy of mine was very nice to let me pick from his 94 Talon.

It took me all day, the 90 Bracket has a more aggressive slant to the shifting arms of the transmission, my guess is to make up for the longer throw and shorter cables of the 90.

The newer drivetrain assembly has a much shorter throw and sits a good inch or so lower then the 90 shifter assembly.

Sorry, just trying to remember what exactly I did to make it work....
